Slow iPhone

This article relates to iPhone 3Gs and iPhone 4 running iOS4

iOS 4 allows apps to run in the background, but what happens when you actually do want to quit an application?

The simplest method to check and quit any apps still running is using the "Recents List", to quit an app you need to:

  1. Double-click the home button to display the recently accessed applications
  2. Press and hold any of the icons shown
  3. Then navigate to the application you want to quit and tap the red circled minus button
  4. This sends a signal to the application in question that allows it to quit

Note: The application will be re-added to the recents list the next time you launch it so dont forget to check once a week to see whats been left running
